Hunter Martin has been Director of Summer at St. Luke's, which now encompasses more than 20 distinct programs, since its inception in 2018. As the Summer Program has expanded, his role has shifted increasingly towards administration, though he continues to teach Honors Modern World History and Advanced European History. Beyond the classroom, Hunter assists seniors with their college essays, serves on the Upper School admissions committee, and formerly coached Varsity Soccer. Prior to joining the St. Luke's faculty in 2012, Hunter taught as a lecturer at the University of Wisconsin, where he holds a Ph.D. in History. His scholarship focused on the intellectual traditions and cultural politics of Europe during the twentieth century. Hunter and his family reside in Redding. He is an avid runner, hiker, cyclist, and paddler; and when he’s not outdoors, he’s generally in the kitchen cooking something spicy.
